State IT Project Management Office
Welcome to the Montana State Information Technology (IT) Project Management Office (PMO) website. The PMO was established to support the State of Montana IT project management community and provide State IT project information to the CIO or the Legislative Finance Committee on behalf of the CIO.
The State of Montana has a significant investment in information and communication technology resources which results in a continued improvement in the way services are delivered to citizens. Project management will help increase the opportunity for project success through:
- Increased understanding of the project’s purpose
- Tools for defining and controlling project scope
- Managed project risks
- Ability to identify, monitor and track deliverables and milestones
- Improved communications and reporting
The PMO has aligned its Project Management methodology with the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and provides project management best practices, standard reporting, templates, and tools. The information contained in this website provides guidance and direction to the project management community including agency project managers, external stakeholders and any organization involved in the development of IT projects.
